Poster graphics are printed in maroon and yellow, text printed in white. Poster depicts the Soviet communist symbol of the hammer and sickle in yellow against a maroon-colored background. Background has suggestions of sheaths of wheat in yellow against the maroon background. Below the two symbols are four lines of Russian text printed in white:
"СВЯТЫЕ , КАК ЗНАМЯ, СЛОВА У НАС ЕСТЬ: РОДИНА, ТРУД, ХЛЕБ, ЧЕСТЬ!"
Translation of text is as follows, as provided by a native Russian speaker: "There are words that are as sacred for us as a pennant: Labor, Bread, Honor, and Homeland" (rhymed for full effect).
Object came framed in black metal frame behind glass. Reverse of frame has hanging wire attached on each long side of the frame and small square pieces of foam in each of the four corners as wall protectors. A sticker in the lower right corner identifies the collection from which this object was purchased: "The Francis Gary Powers Espionage Collection", followed by the lot number "66".
Poster seems to be in good condition inside frame. Metal frame has many scratches in black surface exposing silver metal beneath [See Media Attachments]. Glass is cracked in lower right corner on front of object. Surface of glass is dirty; dust evident between glass and poster. Hanging wire on reverse is not wrapped and has exposed sharp metal ends.
