The interview is one hour and twenty-seven minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Freedom Schools, most prominently located in Mississippi during the summer of 1964, were an important part of the Civil Rights Movement, offering free education for African Americans. These alternative schools provided academic courses and tried to foster awareness of and participation in the political process. During the summer of 1964, there were more than 40 temporary Freedom Schools established in Mississippi. More information on the history of Mississippi Freedom Schools may be found on the Mississippi History Now website: The 1964 Mississippi Freedom Schools - 2016-05. - Stephen Fagin, Curator

In addition to Mark Levy, as of early 2025, the Museum has recorded oral histories with twenty activists who attended the March on Washington on August 28, 1963. Others include photographer Roland L.
