DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Meg Read. Read served on the board of the Dallas County Historical Foundation from 1987 to 1994. During that time, she was actively involved in the opening of The Sixth Floor exhibit, Oliver Stone's Dallas filming of JFK (1991) and the designation of Dealey Plaza as a National Historic Landmark District in 1993.
Interview conducted at Ms. Read's home in Dallas on May 31, 1995 by Bob Porter. The interview is one hour and one minute long.
Curatorial CommentaryMargaret "Meg" Read was part of the first graduating class at the University of Texas at Dallas. In addition to the Dallas County Historical Foundation, she has served on a number of community boards over the years, including the North Texas Food Bank and the State Fair of Texas. Following this 1995 oral history, Ms. Read returned to the Museum for a follow-up interview recorded on November 9, 2017. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
