DescriptionOriginal 35mm color slide taken by Dallas resident Dorothy Murphy showing Jacqueline Kennedy in the crowd of supporters at Love Field airport on November 22, 1963. Mrs. Kennedy's face is partially obscured, but the top of her pink hat and some of the red roses she carries are seen above center of the image. President Kennedy is barely visible directly behind her. The rest of the frame is filled with the crowd and members of the press.
Curatorial Commentary
Near the center of this photograph, seen wearing dark sunglasses, is U.S. Secret Service agent Clint Hill, who was assigned to Mrs. Kennedy's protective detail. Less than an hour after this photograph was taken, Hill jumped onto the back of the presidential limousine during the assassination to shield President and Mrs. Kennedy from gunfire. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
