DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Jon "Bunky" McConal. A longtime reporter and columnist at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, McConal spent the weekend of the Kennedy assassination in the newsroom and interviewed Marguerite Oswald on Sunday. The following day he served as a pallbearer at Lee Harvey Oswald's funeral. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on October 20, 2005 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty-six minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Jon "Bunky" McConal began a forty-year career at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1961. Prior to retiring in 2000, he estimated that he had traveled approximately 200,000 miles around Texas over the years and interviewed some 10,000 individuals. He also taught journalism courses at both Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University. He passed away on September 5, 2019. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
