DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with David Dunnigan. A Dallas native, Dunnigan was a reporter at the Galveston Daily News at the time of the Kennedy assassination. He later went to work at The Dallas Morning News in 1966. In 1993, his PR firm handled media coverage of the ceremony that established the Dealey Plaza National Historic Landmark District at the 30th anniversary of the assassination.
Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on January 18, 2007 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is forty-two minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryDavid Ray Dunnigan passed away on November 25, 2022, a little over a week after his 81st birthday and three days following the 59th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. At the 30th anniversary of the assassination in 1993, Dunnigan worked for Read-Polland & Associates, a Texas public relations firm co-founded by the late Julian Read, who had been a press aide to Governor John Connally at the time of the assassination. Dunnigan considered Read a mentor and longtime friend.
