DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Frances Moffeit. Fourteen years old in 1963, Moffeit observed the Kennedy motorcade on Main Street in front of the Old Red Courthouse and then heard shots fired in Dealey Plaza. An Oak Cliff resident at the time, she recalled visiting Austin's Barbecue where Officer J.D. Tippit often worked security on weekends. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on May 31, 2007 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is twenty-one minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Right after this oral history was recorded, Frances Moffeit's husband, Don Moffeit, also agreed to an interview about his memories of the Kennedy assassination. A clerk at the Retail Credit Company in Oak Cliff in 1963, Mr. Moffeit recalled standing with coworkers outside of the Texas Theatre when Dallas police brought out suspect Lee Harvey Oswald. Don Moffeit passed away in 2019. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
