DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Mary Vogelson. A Dallas native, Vogelson worked as an economist in the Labor Department during the Kennedy Administration. Her husband, Justice Department lawyer Jay Vogelson, reviewed evidence for the Warren Commission in 1964. Upon her return to Dallas in 1968, Mary Vogelson became a prominent local activist for civil rights, fair housing rights and women's rights.
Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on March 5, 2008 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and fifty-seven minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryIn more recent years, Mary Vogelson has been a dedicated environmental activist in Texas, locally recognized as an expert on water conservation. She served for several years as a representative on the Region C Water Planning Group of the Texas Water Development Board. In that capacity, she was interviewed on several occasions and served as moderator for a water conservation panel hosted by the Dallas chapter of the Sierra Club. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
