DescriptionVideotaped Living History program interview with Mary Woodward Pillsworth. A women's news reporter for The Dallas Morning News in 1963, Pillsworth witnessed the Kennedy assassination from the north side of Elm Street and immediately wrote an eyewitness account for her newspaper. The following year she joined the Peace Corps and served in Brazil.
Program conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on November 7, 2015 by Stephen Fagin. The program is forty-three minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryPrior to this 2015 program, Ms. Pillsworth recorded an oral history on November 21, 2013, the day before the 50th anniversary of the assassination. She passed away on April 11, 2017. She is the only known Dealey Plaza assassination eyewitness who went on to serve in the Peace Corps. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
On December 7, 1963, Mary Woordward was interviewed by FBI special agents Henry Oliver and David Barry. A summary of her interview appears as Warren Commission Exhibit No. 2084 in Volume XIV.
Her friend, coworker and roomate, Ann Atterberry (then Ann Donaldson), recorded an oral history with the Museum in 2003 and passed away in 2009. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
