DescriptionTyped 2-page document dated November 1, 1962 from the Public Affairs Division of the Democratic National Committee explaining to candidates how to use a 43-second film clip (2010.009.0001) of President Kennedy urging citizens to vote. It explains that this is a non-partisan address and is not to be followed by a solicitation of votes by any one candidate. The address was filmed October 31, 1962 in the White House, only days after Nikita Kruschev agreed to end the threat of nuclear war from what became known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. In the address, President Kennedy urges citizens to vote as a demonstration of their support for American freedom and democracy.
