DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Benny Bob Barrett. A Dallas County deputy sheriff from 1966 to 1977, Barrett was often assigned guard duty inside Jack Ruby's cell at the Dallas County Jail and later in his room at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Over a period of approximately seven months, Barrett had numerous personal conversations and interactions with Ruby about a variety of topics, including the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald. Interview conducted at the Dallas County Criminal Courts building and The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on September 22, 2009 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and forty-one minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Immediately prior to this interview session, Mr. Barrett led a small group on an informative walk-through of Jack Ruby's jail cell on the sixth floor of the Dallas County Criminal Courts building.
