DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Deacon Bronson Havard. Havard was editor of the student newspaper at Texas Tech University in 1963. Beginning in 1970, as a reporter for the Dallas Times Herald, he covered the controversy surrounding the fate of the Texas School Book Depository building. Havard was inspired by President Kennedy to become a civil rights activist. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on August 3, 2010 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and four minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
For a number of years, Deacon Havard served as editor of the Texas Catholic newspaper and official spokesman of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas. He was also a Catholic chaplain at Southern Methodist University. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
