DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Joe F. Laird, Jr. A Dallas Morning News photographer from 1953 to 1996, Laird photographed the Kennedy motorcade at the corner of Main and Harwood Streets. On that Friday and Sunday, Laird covered the scene at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Interview conducted at Mr. Laird's home in Dallas on September 8, 2011 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and five minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
At the time of this recording, Laird was the last surviving staff photographer from The Dallas Morning News who was assigned to cover President Kennedy's visit on November 22, 1963. He passed away at the age of 90 on August 15, 2016. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
