DescriptionAudio oral history interview with Jerry Kunkel. A broadcaster at KBOX Radio in 1963, Kunkel reported from Parkland Memorial Hospital and Dallas police headquarters. He encountered Jack Ruby that weekend and had a brief exchange with Lee Harvey Oswald during the midnight press showing. Interview conducted via telephone on November 2, 2012 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and one minute long.
Curatorial Commentary
Jerry Lee Kunkel passed away on August 27, 2016 at the age of seventy-seven. In addition to his work at KBOX Radio in Dallas, Kunkel also worked at WKY Radio and Television in Oklahoma City and was later vice president and general manager of television and radio stations in Indiana and New York. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
