DescriptionOriginal 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer William Allen Friday afternoon after the assassination - between 12:30 and 1 p.m. This image shows the exterior of the Texas School Book Depository. Cars, people and police officers crowd around the base of the building. Windows are open on the building's upper floors, including the southeast corner window on the sixth floor. Piles of boxes can be seen through that window in an area that was later identified as the sniper's perch.
