DescriptionOriginal 35mm black and white negative taken by a Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. This image shows two Dallas police officers on guard in front of the Homicide and Robbery Bureau at the Dallas Police Department on the Saturday morning after the assassination of President Kennedy. Homicide detectives inside the office question suspected assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. The police officer on the right is Max Farris.
Curatorial Commentary
The officer on the right in this photograph, Max Farris, recorded an oral history with the Museum in 2007. He was at Parkland Memorial Hospital on unrelated business when the presidential motorcade arrived six minutes after the assassination, and he was present when President Kennedy was taken to Trauma Room One. Farris, who also knew Jack Ruby, later served as one of many consultants to filmmaker Oliver Stone during the production of his 1991 film, JFK. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
