DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Gordon Thomas. A seventh grader in North Carolina, Thomas vividly recalls going to school on Monday, November 25, 1963, despite it being a national day of mourning. From 1976 to 1980, he served on the staff of Congressman L.H. Fountain and attended hearings of the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on March 27, 2014 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is twenty-seven minutes long.

Curatorial Commentary

Prior to this 2014 video oral history, Gordon M. Thomas participated in a telephone interview on September 26, 2013. In addition to his interviews, his involvement with The Sixth Floor Museum continues with a donation made in 2014. The Gordon M. Thomas Collection is comprised of publications relating to the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations investigation, including five volumes of hearings, seven appendix volumes, and one volume final report. The investigation finished in 1979, concluding that Kennedy "was probably assassinated as a result of conspiracy." This investigation has generated research interest for decades and fostered discussion in comparison to the "lone gunman" conclusion of the Warren Commission investigation in 1964. - Riley Harris, Collections Cataloger
