DescriptionOriginal 120mm black and white negative taken by staff photographer Doris Jacoby from The Dallas Morning News. Jacqueline Kennedy, holding a bouquet of roses, has just disembarked from Air Force One at Love Field in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, November 22, 1963. Standing behind her is President John F. Kennedy; standing to the right of her, holding his hat, is Governor John Connally.
Curatorial CommentaryThe gentleman in the extreme foreground of this photograph is U.S. Secret Service agent Winston Lawson, part of the White House Detail. Lawson served as the advance agent for the Dallas portion of the Texas trip in 1963, and arrived in the city some ten days before the president's visit. In the motorcade, Lawson rode in the front passenger's seat of the lead car driven by Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
