DescriptionOriginal 120mm black and white negative taken by staff photographer Bill Winfrey from The Dallas Morning News. Jack Ruby is escorted by police through a crowd of reporters and photographers in the halls of the Dallas Police Department on Sunday, November 24, 1963. Ruby was arrested after he shot accused presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald.
Curatorial CommentaryEscorting Jack Ruby in this photograph are Dallas police homicide detectives Guy Hall (foreground, wearing glasses) and Elmer Boyd (wearing cowboy hat). Boyd holds the unique distinction of having personally escorted Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, Lee Harvey Oswald, and Jack Ruby at various times during his career. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
