DescriptionAudiotaped oral history interview with Dolores Chasuk. The mother of eight children in a politically active family, Chasuk was a Kennedy campaign volunteer in 1960. She recalled that her college roommate had a memorable personal encounter with young John F. Kennedy during World War II.
Interview conducted via telephone on February 7, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is forty minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryDolores Chasuk's son, Tom Chasuk, is a friend and supporter of The Sixth Floor Museum. Tom recorded an oral history in 2022, which may be viewed here: https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/73499. Also in 2022, Tom and Dolores made multiple donations to the Museum, including a variety of assassination-related newspapers and publications, 1960 and 1968 campaign materials, a rare set of 1945 postcards from Dallas, a short 1960 home movie showing young Tom in a Kennedy-inspired Halloween costume and a series of 1965 and 1972 amateur photographs of Dealey Plaza and Arlington National Cemetery taken by Tom's late father, Alfred Chasuk. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
