DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Linda Halpern. A schoolteacher for nearly fifty years, Halpern volunteered with the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee for the Mississippi Freedom Summer project in 1964. During that experience, she was accosted with a noose, spent a week in jail and aided a fellow civil rights worker who had been shot. Halpern later served in the Peace Corps in West Africa from 1966-1968. Interview conducted via Zoom on October 5, 2021 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and sixteen minutes long.

Now retired after a long teaching career, Linda Wetmore Halpern continues to be generous with her time, always willing to share her memories of the Civil Rights Movement.
