DescriptionOne lenticular campaign pin in support of Richard Nixon and Henry Cabot Lodge for the 1960 presidential election.
This lenticular campaign pin shows two different images depending on the angle from which the pin is viewed. One image is a black and white portrait of Vice President Richard Nixon; the other is of Henry Cabot Lodge, Nixon's running mate. Above and below the images is text that reads: "Experience Counts / Vote Nixon-Lodge."
The pin has a blue metal backing that wraps around the front edge. The back has a brass-colored pin with clasp. The following information is printed in white on the back:
"Vari-Vue(R) by

Pat. No. 2,815,310"
There is a union logo beneath the manufacturer's information.
Curatorial CommentaryLenticular printing - which allows an image to change or move when viewed from different angles - was developed in the 1940s. Both campaigns issued similar lenticular pins during the 1960 election. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
