DescriptionColor photograph showing the door to Trauma Room 1 in Parkland Hospital.
The image shows a door, and there is a small plaque with a "1" on it under the door's square window. There is a small padlock on the door.
This photographic print was made in 2000, from color negatives originally taken in 1973.
Curatorial CommentaryThis view of the doorway to Trauma Room One, as seen in the early 1970s shortly before it was dismantled, is similar to black and white images of the doorway taken in the immediate aftermath of the Kennedy assassination. The key difference, however, is the addition of a small padlock on the door. This lock, added some time after the assassination, was possibly installed to keep tourists or curious individuals from entering the room where President Kennedy died. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
