Luke Mooney passed away on December 3, 2010. It was a sincere pleasure to become friends with Mr. Mooney in the final years of his life. We first met in 2002, when he recorded an oral history at the Museum (Luke Mooney Oral History – Works – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza). In addition to this 2006 program, he returned two more times (including this visit in 2009: Luke Mooney Living History Program – Works – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza) to be part of Living History educational programs for school groups.
Mooney also made donations to The Sixth Floor Museum in 2006-2007, gifting the full set of clothes he was wearing when he discovered the sniper's nest on the sixth floor, as well as his Dallas County deputy sheriff's badge, credentials and firearms. Select artifacts from the Luke E. Mooney Collection were featured in the 2006-2007 exhibit, "Voices from History: Dallas Law Enforcement." - Stephen Fagin, Curator
A longtime friend of the Museum, Eugene Boone passed away on October 28, 2017. He participated in the Museum's inaugural audio tour, produced by Antenna, recorded in 1988 and available on the Museum's opening day of February 20, 1989. Following that, he first recorded an oral history with the Museum in 2003: Eugene Boone Oral History – Search Eugene Boone (Objects) – Search – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. He later recorded a follow-up oral history in 2014.
The day after this 2006 panel discussion with Luke Mooney and Pierce Allman, Eugene Boone returned to the Museum for a solo gallery talk to commemorate the anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. He later participated in several other programs and events at the Museum, including Living History public programs in 2008 (Eugene Boone Living History Program – Search Eugene Boone (Objects) – Search – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza) and 2014 (Living History with Eugene Boone - YouTube) and a panel discussion with eyewitnesses at the 50th anniversary in 2013 (JFK Assassination 50th Anniversary Media Open House - Eyewitness Panel - YouTube). - Stephen Fagin, Curator
Pierce Allman passed away on November 25, 2022. He was a longtime friend of The Sixth Floor Museum. Less than two weeks prior to the opening of the exhibit in February 1989, Pierce provided narration for an audio tour that guided visitors through the sixth floor of the former Depository building. More than twenty years later, Pierce returned to voice all new narration for an updated and enhanced audio tour. His rich and distinctive voice ultimately guided millions of visitors through their experience at The Sixth Floor Museum for more than three decades.
