Curatorial Commentary
This is the moment in which the Kennedys, after greeting the local dignitaries and guests, were supposed to walk toward the presidential limousine, but they decided instead to say hello to the crowd and shake their hands by walking along the cyclone fence line. This unplanned diversion caught the Secret Service briefly off guard, and subsequent images show them following the Kennedys very closely. - Gary Mack, Curator
