DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Billy R. Allen. A community leader and minority advocate for many years, Allen served on the founding board of the African American Museum in Dallas. He was attending Henderson County Junior College in Athens, Texas, at the time of the assassination. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on May 11, 2015 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is forty minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
The extensive collection of folk art at the Dallas African American Museum was named in honor of Mr. Allen. Having grown to include more than 500 objects as of 2022, the Billy R. Allen Folk Art Collection is one of the largest collections of African American folk art in the country. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
