Kevin L. Nelson Oral History
Kevin L. Nelson was one of ten individuals interviewed during an oral history outreach visit to C.C. Young retirement community in Dallas on June 19, 2015. Typically, I only interview retirement home residents during outreach visits, though I always extend an invitation to staff members who have memories of President Kennedy and the assassination. Kevin, an employee at C.C. Young, volunteered to share his childhood recollections of seeing the presidential motorcade.
As a six-year-old, Kevin could not recall where his class observed the Kennedy motorcade. Good Street Baptist Church was some distance from the presidential parade route. The church is on Bonnie View Road in the Oak Cliff section of the city, approximately four miles from the Tippit shooting scene and the Texas Theatre. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
