DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Rev. Charles Burton. Burton was a Methodist minister in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963. During the Civil Rights Movement, he was a member of the Alabama Council on Human Relations.
Interview conducted at C.C. Young retirement community in Dallas on June 28, 2019 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is twelve minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryThe Alabama Council on Human Relations was organized in 1947 as the Alabama division of the Southern Regional Council. The initial purpose of the council was to support civil rights and promote interracial cooperation.
