DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with David Ritz. An award-winning author of more than fifty books, including a number of collaborative autobiographies of musicians and entertainers, Ritz graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas. Working for the Sam Bloom Advertising Agency in 1963, he was present at the Dallas Trade Mart luncheon on November 22, 1963.
Interview conducted at the Dallas Public Library on April 30, 2016 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty-nine minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryThis oral history was recorded at the downtown Dallas Public Library during the 2016 Dallas Book Festival. In addition to his work as a novelist and lyricist, David Ritz's collaborative autobiographies include books with Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, B.B. In addition to Mr. Ritz, the Museum has recorded a number of oral histories with former students at Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas.
