DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Paul Bentley. Chief polygraph examiner with the Dallas Police Department in 1963, Detective Bentley was involved in the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald at the Texas Theatre.
Interview conducted at Mr. Bentley's home on February 16, 1994 by Wes Wise and Bob Porter. Interview is one hour and six minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryMr. Bentley passed away on July 21, 2008. He participated in two videotaped interviews with The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, recorded on February 16, 1994, and January 22, 2008. In addition, he participated in three videotaped programs at the Museum: a panel discussion with Dallas police officer Jerry Hill and journalist Hugh Aynesworth on April 18, 2007; a gallery lecture on September 14, 2007 (https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/26362); and a Living History education program on May 16, 2008, just two months prior to his death (Living History with Paul Bentley - YouTube). Mr. Bentley loaned his Dallas police badge to the Museum for the "Voices from History: Dallas Law Enforcement" exhibit, November 2006 to October 2007. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
