DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Hugh Aynesworth. A science and aviation reporter for The Dallas Morning News in 1963, Aynesworth was the only known journalist to witness the president's assassination, the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald, and the shooting of Oswald by Jack Ruby. In the aftermath, Aynesworth followed up investigative leads and wrote numerous stories about the Kennedy assassination. The author of JFK: Breaking the News (2003) and November 22, 1963: Witness to History (2013), Aynesworth is considered an authority on the assassination. Interview recorded at Mr. Aynesworth's home on July 28, 1994 by Wes Wise and Bob Porter. The interview is two hours and thirteen minutes long.

Curatorial Commentary

Hugh Aynesworth has been a longtime friend of The Sixth Floor Museum and has kindly participated in several public and private programs over the years. This 1994 oral history was his earliest video recording with the Museum.
