DescriptionOriginal 35mm color slide of mourners in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. The image was taken by amateur photographers Rudy and Vera Clauss on Sunday, November 24, 1963, two days after the assassination of President Kennedy. The image shows a crowd of mourners in Dealey Plaza looking at a large grouping of memorial flowers and tributes to President Kennedy. The Texas School Book Depository building and the Dal-Tex building can be partially seen in the background.
Curatorial CommentaryAfter the assassination, Rudy and Vera Clauss apparently visited Dealey Plaza around noon on Saturday, November 23, where they took a series of photographs (2018.006.17 to 2018.006.24). They then returned the following afternoon on Sunday, November 24, to take additional photographs (2018.006.0025 to 2018.006.0038) as well as an 8mm home movie (2018.006.0001). -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
