DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Ruth Gramolini. A Vermont college student in 1963, Gramolini was inspired in part by President Kennedy to become active in the Civil Rights Movement. After joining the conclusion of the Selma to Montgomery march in 1965, she volunteered for the SCOPE project of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and worked on voter registration in Alabama until the spring of 1966. Interview conducted via Zoom on April 27, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour long.

The Museum has been honored to interview several individuals who participated in all or part of the historic 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery. In addition to the late Ruth Gramolini, other oral history subjects who took part in the march include Joanne Bland, Thomas Gardner, Bob Gilliam, Bruce Hartford, Marvin Lare, Paul Lauter, Eric Lerner, Lynda Blackmon Lowery and Richard Smiley.
