Curatorial Commentary
Halsey Beemer met and married his wife, Jane, while serving in the Peace Corps in the Philippines from 1962 to 1965. He recorded an oral history with the Museum on May 4, 2022, which may be viewed in full here: https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/73156. During the interview, Mr. Beemer read and discussed this telegram from the weekend of the assassination. He very generously decided to donate the original telegram to the Museum less than one week later. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
