DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Gloria Tucker. A native of Batesville, Mississippi, Tucker attended segregated schools and was active in voter registration during the 1964 Freedom Summer project. She was inspired in part by her activism to pursue a career in legal services in the early 1970s.
Interview conducted via Zoom on September 28, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryIn 2022-2023, it was my great pleasure to interview three members of the Tucker family from Mississippi, including this recording with Gloria Tucker. In addition, I recorded oral histories with her brother, Allen Tucker (Allen Tucker Oral History – Works – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza), and her younger sister, Alice Pretlow (Alice Pretlow Oral History – Works – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza). I also recorded an interview with Cheryl Janice Johnson, a classmate of Gloria Tucker.
