DescriptionAudiotaped oral history interview with Jill Zarnowitz. A sixth grader in San Diego, California, in 1963, Zarnowitz and her parents were active in the civil rights movement. The letter she wrote to Jackie Kennedy as part of a class project was included in Dr. Ellen Fitzpatrick's book, "Letters to Jackie: Condolences from a Grieving Nation" (2010). Interview conducted by telephone on October 5, 2010 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is twenty-two minutes long.

Over the years, the Museum has recorded oral histories with more than one dozen individuals whose condolence letters were selected for publication in the book. In addition to Jill Zarnowitz, the Museum has recorded interviews with Thomas N. Smith (Thomas N.
