DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Dr. Will Brooker. A professor of film and cultural studies at Kingston University in London, Brooker has written extensively on popular culture, particularly focusing on the intersection of fandom, media and identity within film, television, literature, music and comic book culture. From 2013 to 2017, he was editor of Cinema Journal. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on March 22, 2018 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and thirteen minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Over the past twenty-five years, Dr. Will Brooker has written extensively on popular culture, including notable works about subjects as diverse as musician David Bowie and comic book icon Batman. Some of his topics have indirect connections to the Kennedy assassination, including Never-Ending Watchmen (2023), a book about the landmark graphic novel that includes the assassination, and an essay in the book, New Dimensions of Doctor Who (2013), about the long-running BBC science fiction series which premiered the day after the Kennedy assassination and has referenced the tragedy numerous times on television and in novels. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
