DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Dr. Mario T. Garcia. An author and distinguished professor of Chicano studies and history at the University of California Santa Barbara, Garcia was a sophomore at the University of Texas at El Paso at the time of the assassination.
Interview conducted via Zoom on July 7, 2021 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and forty-three minutes long.

Garcia is the prolific author or editor of more than a dozen books, including Desert Immigrants: The Mexicans of El Paso, 1880-1920 (1981), Mexican Americans: Leadership, Ideology, & Identity, 1930-1960 (1990), and Memories of Chicano History: The Life and Narrative of Bert Corona (1994). Two other publications, The Making of a Mexican American Mayor: Raymond L.
