DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Hester Moore. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Moore was sixteen years old when she became an activist during the 1968 sanitation workers’ strike. She participated in a march led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on March 28 and recalls local riots following the King assassination one week later. Interview conducted via Zoom on July 13, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and four minutes long.

Hester Moore is the author of a memoir, 16N68: My Story, published in 2018. In addition, she is an actress and educator who facilitates workshops and presents school programs in character as historic civil rights figures such as Harriet Tubman.
