DescriptionOriginal 35mm color slide taken by amateur photographers Rudy and Vera Clauss showing Air Force One and Air Force Two at Love Field airport in Dallas, TX on November 22, 1963. Air Force One and Air Force Two are shown parked on the tarmac, next to one another, after the presidential party has deplaned. Several police officers are stationed at the base of the stairs for each plane while some bystanders watch.
Curatorial CommentaryThe Boeing VC-137C aircraft in the foreground, designated Air Force One when the president of the United States was on board, ultimately carried eight sitting presidents, from John F. Kennedy to Bill Clinton. It was officially retired in 1998 and today can be seen at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
