DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Dr. Xiaobing Li. A native of Beijing, China, Li was nine years old at the time of the assassination and later served in the People’s Liberation Army. Li, who moved to the United States in 1983, is professor of history at the University of Central Oklahoma and author of several books about the Vietnam War and Chinese military history.
Interview conducted via Zoom on June 17, 2021 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty-three minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryDr. Xiaobing Li holds the Don Betz Endowed Chair in International Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma and is executive editor of the Chinese Historical Review. He is also author or editor of eight books, including Voices from the Vietnam War (2010) and China's Battle for Korea (2014). As of 2025, Li is the only individual born in China who has participated in the Museum's Oral History Project. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
