DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Geraldine Kennedy. Inspired by John F. Kennedy, whom she saw during the 1960 campaign, Geraldine Kennedy was an early Peace Corps volunteer, serving in Liberia from 1962 to 1964. She subsequently authored several books and was editor of "From the Center of the Earth: Stories Out of the Peace Corps" (1991).
Interview conducted via Zoom on July 20, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and twenty-six minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryIn addition to Geraldine Kennedy, I have had the pleasure of interviewing six other Returned Peace Corps Volunteers who served in Liberia from 1962 to 1964. Oral histories with Dr. Angene and Jack Wilson (https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/73290); George Vance (https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/73415) and George Hess (https://emuseum.jfk.org/objects/73410) may be found in the Museum's online collections database. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
