DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Art Brender. A student at Jesuit High School in 1963, Brender was outside the Dallas Trade Mart when he briefly observed the Kennedy motorcade on its way to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Growing up in Oak Cliff, he was familiar with several individuals connected to the assassination story, including J.D. Tippit and Jack Ruby.
Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on December 6, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and twenty-one minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryAfter graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968, Art Brender joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Upon his return in 1971, he entered the University of Texas School of Law. He began his law career in 1973 and remains, as of 2023, a trial lawyer in Fort Worth. He has argued two cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and has been honored on several occasions, including for "Outstanding Service in the Field of Civil Rights" from the Texas NAACP. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
