DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Jim Spaniolo. President of the University of Texas at Arlington from 2004 to 2013, Spaniolo was a Michigan high school student in 1963. As a student journalist in the 1960s, he met President Lyndon Johnson and wrote extensively on civil rights and the Vietnam War. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on January 13, 2025 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is forty-three minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Prior to serving as president of the University of Texas at Arlington from 2004 to 2013, Spaniolo was dean of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University from 1996 to 2004. He was also a successful attorney specializing in communications and constitutional law, serving as counsel to the Miami Herald and the American Newspaper Publishers Association. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
