DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Bill Sloan. A copy editor at the Dallas Times Herald in 1963, Sloan wrote a number of stories on the Kennedy assassination in the 1960s. He later became a national tabloid editor and an assassination researcher. His books include JFK: The Last Dissenting Witness (1992), co-authored with eyewitness Jean Hill, and JFK: Breaking the Silence (1993). His novel about a Kennedy assassination conspiracy, The Other Assassin, was published in 1989.
Interview conducted at Mr. Sloan's home in Dallas on July 31, 2001 by Bob Porter and Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and thirty-two minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryBill Sloan recorded a second oral history at The Sixth Floor Museum on July 11, 2014. On the same day, his wife, Lana Henderson Sloan, also recorded an oral history about her experiences as a women's news reporter at the Dallas Times Herald in the 1970s. Mr. Sloan passed away on November 10, 2019. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
