DescriptionOriginal 35mm black and white negative taken by a Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. This image shows President and Mrs. Kennedy walking toward the fence line at Love Field on the morning of November 22, 1963. The images on this negative strip were taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer Eamon Kennedy. There were three photographers at Love Field that day: John Mazziotta, Bob Jackson and Eamon Kennedy.
Curatorial Commentary
The U.S. Secret Service agent in sunglasses walking behind Mrs. Kennedy is Clint Hill, who would later jump onto the back of the presidential limousine during the assassination.  On the far left, the balding journalist with his hand extended, addressing President Kennedy, is Charles Roberts of Newsweek.  Roberts would later be among the pool reporters who witnessed the swearing-in of Lyndon Johnson aboard Air Force One.  The news cameraman to the right of Roberts, wearing a hat, is NBC White House photographer David Wiegman who shot significant news film in Dealey Plaza in the immediate aftermath of the assassination.  U.S. Secret Service agent William Greer, the driver of the Kennedy limousine, can be seen in the upper right corner, standing in front of the car, and looking to his right. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
