DescriptionOriginal 35mm color slide taken by amateur photographers Rudy and Vera Clauss showing a memorial flower wreath left in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, TX on Saturday, November 23, 1963, the day after the assassination of President Kennedy. A single red flower wreath with an attached note is visible in the grass of Dealey Plaza. A sliver of the Texas School Book Depository building can be seen in the background.
Curatorial Commentary
This oddly holiday-themed wreath, one of the earliest memorial tributes left in Dealey Plaza, included a handwritten note that read: "In memory of our beloved President John F. Kennedy. [From] Bereaved Dallas Citizens." -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
