DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Bruce Hartford. As a college student in California, Hartford became active with the Congress of Racial Equality and attended the 1963 March on Washington. He later joined the field staff of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and participated in the Selma to Montgomery march and the 1965 SCOPE voter registration project. Hartford actively protested the Vietnam War and was a San Francisco leader with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). Interview conducted via Zoom on December 2, 2022 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and thirty-three minutes long.

Bruce Hartford developed and administers the Civil Rights Movement Archive (Civil Rights Movement Archive (crmvet.org)), a non-profit web-based archive that chronicles the history of the Southern Civil Rights Movement, 1951-1968.
